California @ TCU

Current Records: California 0-1; TCU 1-0

Last Season Records: TCU 6-4; California 1-3

What to Know

The TCU Horned Frogs have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the California Golden Bears at 3:30 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Amon G. Carter Stadium. If the 10-7 final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.

When you finish with 294 more yards than your opponent like TCU did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They steamrolled past the Duquesne Dukes 45-3 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35 to nothing. The Horned Frogs can attribute much of their success to RB Kendre Miller, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.

Meanwhile, California scored first but ultimately less than the Nevada Wolf Pack in their contest last week. California didn't finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 22-17 to Nevada. California was up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead. One thing holding the Golden Bears back was the mediocre play of QB Chase Garbers, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he threw one interception with only 172 yards passing.

TCU's win lifted them to 1-0 while California's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if the Horned Frogs can add another positive mark to their record or if California can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of TCU's step.
